Nipah Virus Infection (NiV)

Hiii guys.....
Today my topic is on Nipah Virus Infection (NiV). Before knowing the preventive measures of this disease one must know what actually the Nipah is.....
Nipah Virus Infection (NiV) is a viral disease and caused by Nipah virus of genome Henipavirus. It is a zoonotic disease i.e transmitted between animals and humans.
The disease was first identified in fruit bats in 1998 in Malaysia and Singapore. It is named after a village in Malaysia, Sungai Nipah.
Why we have to know about the preventive measures of this disease? The main reason is that there is no effective treatment for the disease, treatment is limited to supportive care.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES
1) Avoid exposure to bats in endemic areas and sick pig.
2) Avoid drinking of raw palm sap contaminated by bat excrete.
3) Avoid eating of fruit partially consumed by bats. (Specifically dates)
4) Avoid using water from Wells infected by bats.

This are the simple steps to prevent the Nipah Virus Infection (NiV). Surveillance and awareness are important for preventing future outbreak.

I hope you liked my blog and keep reading to know about the preventive measures of many more diseases.
Thank you....
